Meet Casey Daurio, our new design intern!

by tiffany on 06/30/11

I am excited to announce that Designhype has our very first intern! He comes to Designhype with a perspective from both the Fine Art and Industrial Design worlds. Casey is currently a student at Pratt Institute in the Industrial Design program (we have ties through Pratt as I am a graduate from their Industrial Design Master's Degree Program). In Casey's own words...

The Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute really gave me a stepping stone for conceptual thinking and craftsmanship. I was fortunate enough to spend some time having exceptional library access which hones my knowledge of the art and design world. The faculty were supportive of my sometimes sideways interests.

Design to me needs to accessible. There is always a point in creating where reality sets in and the idea you have is translated into a tangible one. Issues of sustainability and accessibility always cross my mind. I am in conception a high-end designer and in reality someone who can make well-intentioned items for good people who lend themselves to a happy lifestyle.

Designhype is the type of company that inspires me. The approach, from what I see, is responsive to the needs and wants of the everyday person. An iconic items starts a business, a talented designer keeps it going. I am excited to work with someone I greatly respect and I also appreciate Tiffany's vision.

About Casey Daurio

Casey Daurio is an Industrial Designer in his Undergraduate studies at Pratt Institute. Coming from a Fine Arts education, his approach to design and creativity knows no bounds. Still an avid artist he separates his "downtime" between cultural events in the art and design worlds.

UncommonGoods Holiday Preview + Featured Product!

by tiffany on 06/08/11

UncommonGoods held their annual Holiday Preview (Editor's Day) on June 2nd and our NYC Metro Cuff was one of the products featured!

Honestly when I received the email from them explaining Editor's Day (I didn't know that it was also called a Holiday Preview until after the event) I had no clue what it was all about, they don't really teach these things in design school (another topic, another day). What I understand is that Editor's Day is an event created for and devoted to the editors of select magazines in which they get to "experience" a product assortment, in this case UncommonGoods offerings. The event was held at a location in NYC and I have a link to the images...

check out UncommonGoods Holiday Preview photo's here.

What does all this mean exactly? Imagine one of these fine folks in the press spotting a fantastic product that they fall in love with...and VOILA! That product is featured in that magazine (well maybe).

Thanks to the UncommonGoods team for choosing our cuffs to be featured! We can't thank you enough for being an amazing group to work with!

cheers!

London Tube Cuffs have arrived!

by tiffany on 05/03/11

Wow, this has been a long, crazy week and it has just begun. We have so much to announce I am not sure where to begin. Oh, wait, I know...we just launched our London Tube Cuffs! Click here to check them out.

Not only that but we have two styles of our London Tube Cuff for purchase, the map embossed in red and the map embossed aka no color just pure stainless steel baby. Also...we have just released an embossed style of our NYC Metro Cuff. Hmmm...let me think what else...our Milan cuffs are now stainless steel and embossed in blue.

We have also added a blog to our brand new website (launching as this post is going up) and Designhype has a new logo.

I will post more later but really just wanted to announce some of the things going on here, I feel like we have been quiet the past few weeks getting ready for today.

So now its time to hear what everyone thinks, your feedback is much appreciated.

cheers,

tiffany
